spider

Lillian And I made a video involving some costumes that we made! It was an interesting experiment for me in particular as I've never done any video work before. I have no frame of reference for relating this to the rest of my work. I'm still trying to put it in context. It was a lot of fun however and this hopefully will be the fist of many.

Here are a few stills. Thanks to everyone who helped and sat in those terribly uncomfortable costumes for so long.

More soon.

Angels of Light - We Are Him (2007), How I loved You (2001)

Here's a couple of more records to enjoy for awhile. Michael Gira, formally of Swans formed The Angels of Light in the late 90's. It's much cheerier at times than Swans ever was, but still pretty dark and has a nice croon to it at times. Click and take them.

New Work and Etsy.

So! I live in a new apartment now. It's cheap and great and warm. Living somewhere comfortable has also given me the opportunity to cross some things off of my "to do" list. One of which is starting an Etsy Shop. Yes! After some serious procrastination I have started one and you can see it here.

Here are a few new images as well.

Also, Here is some sketchbook stuff. All 8x10, pen on paper. You can see more here.

Kirkland Ave. Project.

it's happening! Yes.

The Kirkland Ave. Project is in Full swing and It has been amazing to see how many people have selflessly given their time and energy to help realize this project. I am especially Grateful to Haley Morgan for coordinating all the volunteers that have been helping in the the alleyway.

The project however is coming to a close and there will be a reception in the alleyway to celebrate the completion of the project come this months Arts Night Out, a week from today, Friday October 9th. There will be music, refreshments and many excited people. Come and appreciate some hard work. Right next to Downtown Sounds.

Also, on a separate note. Marissa Nadler will be Playing at the Montague Bookmill on Sunday night. If you like extremely sad and beautiful music I suggest you arrive at 8 pm sharp. I will hopefully see someone there...

Papergirl Closing Reception this Friday!

So it's been a little too long since my last post. I apologize. There is much to talk about however. First of all, the thing I'm most excited about. The Closing reception for the Papergirl Project is this Friday.

Additionally, Here is a map where the donated work is being displayed. You can view it there before Friday evening.

Second, I mentioned awhile back that I have been commissioned to design and help organize people in the community to create a mural in Kirkland Ave. It's been going well so far and has been a very good experience. The design has already gone through many changes and alterrations but this is how it stands now and I feel pretty good about it. I've been working with the Commonwealth center for change throughout the whole process which is great. In addition to Kirkland ave., they have lent us a hand with Papergirl, either helping us out with space to show the work or offereing to help ride and distribute themselves. They have been a wonderful resource for me in the past few months as far as organizational issues and needs for space were concerned. And I want to thank them immensly.

You really should click on it to make it a little bigger.

Can't wait.

In addition to organizing Papergirl and working on the Mural proposal for Kirkland Ave. It's been quite hectic around here. The production in my studio has waned lately, but I have been finding more and more time in the past couple weeks to get back into the groove of things and have been producing some things I'm pretty happy with.

Here are a few recent pieces that will be hanging soon at the Dirty Truth downtown.

Riding a Brain Cloud - watercolor and ink on paper - 11x14

Feeding the Twins - Watercolor on Paper - 18x24
Reaching Inside - Watercolor on Paper - 11x14

Conspiring Beneath the Godhead_Relief_11x14

Also, it was recently my dear friend Adam Ziskie's birthday this past week and I painted him a portrait of Charles Manson for his birthday. It was a joke that very few people got...

Charlie - Watercolor and Ink on Paper - 11x14

Also a few Weeks ago my friend Andy came up for a visit and as we got to talking he decided to take some of my work to put in a show he is curating at the Front Room Gallery in Cleveland OH. I wish I could make it to the opening but unfortunately it's the same night as Papergirl. And it's in Cleveland. I'll be showing with Zachary Coneybear, Andy Curlowe, Meagan Herwig, Aaron Rokjer, Gian Romangnoli.

I suppose that is it for now. There will be more soon. I wanted to pose some music. However I am having some trouble with my Mediafire account. I will try to get to the bottom of this. In the meantime, take care,

New Work, Papergirl and Kirkland Ave.

Lately I've been quite busy. A little stressful at times but mostly good! The Papergirl Project that Katherine Romansky, Adam Kology, and myself have been planning has really caught the interest of some of the local artists and establishments. There are multiple restaurants and businesses in town that want to hang the work, we have been talking to the Commonwealth Center for Change about collaborating on the project, and we even got a write up in the Valley Advocate. You can read the article here if you wish. We have Also received some pretty nice donations so far too. Here's a couple.

(Ethan Berry) Visit Me Quick-Relief-14"x16"

(Chris Stepler) Sudden Summer Squall - Relief- 7"x7"

(Caity Vail) Untitled-Acrylic and Collage on Paper-9"x11"

Also, I have been selected to paint a Mural in Kirkland Ave, downtown. It'simoultaneously exciting and intimidating. A little more eciting though. An interesting bit of history I've recently heard was that Kevin Eastman, one of the co-cretors of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles used to sketch in this Alley to design some of the scenes in the Comic Book. I'm not sure if this is really true or not, but the book was published in Northampton in 1984 out of Mirage Studios so I suppose it's possible. Anyway, givin' this history, it's just too tempting to not referance this in whatever I paint on the walls. I did some sketches today for it.

Turtle Dance-Gouache and ink on Paper-11"x14"

The Press I bulit is set up in the new apartment and it works! Thank god. It's a little tight but I can't complain. I'm in the middle of working on larger colored blocks that I will post later.

Terrible Machine-Relief-7"x7"Cilium Structure-Relief-7"x12"

Then Finally here's a few new paintings. Believe it or not, I am still doing that.

Clutching for the Red Christ-Gouache and ink on Paper-7"x12"

Dancing in Questionable Architecture-Goauche and ink on Paper-7"x12"

Bird Altar at Night-Gouache and ink on Paper-7"x12"

More soon. Take Care.
